Dundrum Montessori school was established in 1988 and is one of south county Dublin’s oldest Montessori schools. The school began with 12 children, and as the demand for a quality Montessori programme grew we now have 4 Montessori classes, one of those being an advanced class which follows an enhanced programme. We offer an exceptional learning environment tailored to the individual child. Four fully stocked and equipped classrooms help each child to grow and achieve at the most appropriate pace to the best of his or her own ability. Our school is situated on the grounds of Holy Cross primary school. We have access to a garden, large playground, gym hall and soft play area. Our after school is located in Holy Cross National School building. We are open 5 days a week from 8:30 until 6 p.m. during the school term. We have 2 collection times for Taney National School (1:15 and 2:15) and 2 for Holy Cross (1:40 and 2:40).
Our timetable is as follows: After collection from their schools the teachers help the children with their homework. When they finish their homework the children are provided with snacks, depending on how long they will spend in after school. After snack they have free-play where the children can choose what to play with and who to play with. At 3:30 we tidy up for our afternoon activity. This changes from day to day but involves arts and crafts, baking, dress up, board games, jigsaws, talent shows, sports and games. We always take input from the children as to our daily activities as we want them to be happy, occupied and entertained. As well as benefiting from the Holy Cross school hall, we also avail of their AstroTurf pitch and bring the children outside for approximately an hour each day, depending on the weather.
